The Museum

The museum's building has its own rich history. Its architecture dates back to the late 20's when shingles were used on the outside of buildings both as a decorative piece and as protectant from the elements. The building was used to store nutmegs, and served for many years as an office. And, at one time it was a temporary home for the Nyack's.

Today a rich assortment of memorabilia, antiques, photographs, documents, heirlooms, trinkets, tools, payroll ledgers provide a glimpse into the history, challenges and triumphs of Belmont Estate, its owners and workers. Grenada's history is also well represented with a collection of authentic Carib artefacts, maps, information on our Independence, the revolution, and other important events in Grenada and telephone directories dating back into the early 50s.
